Paper Bag Princess Costume

Take a classic literary character trick-or-treating.

This is a costume I made for “Literary Character” day for school.  But this very recognizable character is easy to make and warm enough for trick – or – treating . I made it in 3 pieces:  a bib style front/back piece and two side panels cut from light beige felt. I hand stitched the side panels without hiding the seam so it had sharp edges and with a fabric marker lightly drew on the creases of a paper bag.  With pinking shears I zigzagged the bottom and cut out that little notch at the top of a paper bag.  The crown I cut out of actual brown paper bag and glued it on to a tiara  and topped it of with a little black soot makeup.

Materials:

2 yards of beige felt

small brown paper bag

fabric markers
